40k Random, Random 2v2 Tournament @ The HGC | December 22
2024 |
|
1000pts each | ||
Introduction
The Holmfirth Gaming Centre is proud to announce a 40k 2v2 tournament with a difference.
Each round you will be paired with a different partner against different opponents chosen at random.
Participants will be entered in groups of 4 and a maximum of 13 groups. That’s 52 players Max. Don’t worry if you haven’t got your own group of 4 you do not need to know anyone else in your group the event purely needs to be sold in batches of 4 for it to work. Before paying we will confirm if you are part of a completed group and if so will be sent payment details for the event.
There will be 3 rounds, each round you will be selected a random partner and random opponents (this may mean you get the same partner or the same opponent more than once) But that is the will of the chaos gods and the way that a Random, Random event works. Although playing as a team scores are individual. if you scored 80points and a win as a team if you split up in the next round you will go into it with 80points and a win each.
At the end of each round the person with the highest score will receive a mini prize. If multiple people have the same score there will be a mini game to decide the winner.

- A copy of your codex(s), Rulebook and any other Rules you may need.
Event Rules
There are two Players in each team. Players have a 1000-point allowance with allies allowed. All Rules for Force organisation must be followed with the exception that your team members force does not need to share any key words with your own.
- Any current 10 edition Codex or rules may be used with the exception of legendary units.
- All armies must be Battle Forged following all current rules and FAQs.
- The most recent codex should be used.
- Special and named Characters are allowed
- Forge World units are allowed but are considered 0-1 units e.g. with the exception of legend’ed units.
- Fortification are allowed (apart from the fortress of redemption).
- Models must be WYSIWYG unbuilt models are not allowed. Offending models will be removed by the TO.
- All models must be painted to a three-colour minimum (it’s no fun playing against a grey army).
- Forge world models and conversions should try to match the official model’s width, height and general size. The TO may remove any models considered modelled for advantage.
- Lists must be handed in on Sunday morning during registration to be checked for legality.
- As the scoring system in this event is strange you will need to give your individual scores to the TO personally to avoid confusion.
- Games will be played using the standard Pariah nexus mission deck. All tables and missions will be drawn randomly. Secret missions will not be used.
How to Play a Game
- Discuss terrain and decide types
- Show your army lists
- Follow the Pariah mission set up rules for the game
- Calculate command points and spend pre-game command points where instructed. Players have their own command point pool these belong only to their army and cannot be shared.
- Tactical objective cards are shared in the team. For instance, if the mission states that you get 2 cards that’s all the team gets, not 2 cards each.
Scoring
After each game each Player will enter the results into their score sheet and hand them into the TO. Each score sheet will contain the result for each player.
Any armies not fully painted will NOT receive the 10pts for painted this is a ref’s decision.
Finally, at the end the players score from all 3 games will be added up. The player with the highest total will win first pick in the round of Tzeentch. (If two Players are tied for a position the players will enter the mini game to decide).
Prizes will go to the First 3 places
Another prize will go to the best painted army (voting at lunch time) and an award for the best sporting (voted at the end of the day).
Rule Queries
If players disagree on a rule, follow this procedure:
- Check rulebook and latest FAQs
- Try and come to an agreement between all 4 players.
