40k Doubles Tournament @ The HGC

27th July 2019

850pts each 1700 per team

Introduction

The Holmfirth Gaming Centre is proud to announce a 40k Doubles tournament.

Each team will consist of two members who will remain partnered throughout the event.

Although fighting on the same side the two players armies will have no direct or indirect effects on each other for all intents and purposes they are two different armies just fighting in the same direction. Potentially board effects will impact both teams such as the nurgle trees, or other fortifcations that can be taken.

On the other hand all victories and losses will be shared for the purposes of determining leader board positions. After all you are on the same team.

One player will choose a Warlord for the game & the players can choose which set of Maelstrom cards can be used to complete the Maelstrom missions shown below.

  • Show your army lists
  • Each team rolls a D6. Starting with the player who rolled highest place objectives using the rules specified in the mission brief for each game.

  • Starting with the team who rolled highest place any Fortifications using the following rules.

Aegis Defense Line: Must be placed wholly within your table half, without moving terrain.

Bastion / Sky shield Landing Pad or other similar terrain piece must replace a similar size piece of terrain in your table half. Please replace the terrain after.

  • Nominate Warlord and determine warlord trait and relics.

  • Calculate command points and spend pre-game command points where instructed.

  • The team who rolled the highest can choose to deploy first or second. Whoever deploys first will take first turn.

Scoring

After each team match-up is complete each captain will enter the results into their score sheet and hand them into the referees.

Each score sheet will contain the result of each match-up and the grand team total.

Any armies not fully painted will receive a 3pt deduction at referee’s discretion and also negative points can be award for bad sportsmanship and cheating, again at the referee’s discretion.

Finally at the end of the day each team will add up all of their scores for the whole day, the team with the highest total will win.

If two teams are tied for a position the tie breaker will first be on the result between the two teams, if they haven’t played each then points conceded in their matches.

If 3 or more teams tied it goes straight to points conceded.

Prizes will go to the winners and runners up (8 prizes)

Another prize will go to the best painted army (voting at lunch time) and a trophy for the best sporting team (voted at the end of the day).
